Progress through research and innovation. The Heart Clinic Foundation supports innovative research in the fields of cardiology and cardiac surgery. Its primary goal is to promote projects in the field of digital health, artificial intelligence, telemedicine, new device therapies and minimally invasive heart surgery approaches. We mainly support projects that will foster knowledge for improving cardiac care in the future, and that will be available to a large scientific community.
Education at the center of our core competences. As a center of excellence in cardiology and cardiovascular surgery, the Heart Clinic Zurich and the Heart Clinic Foundation educate medical professionals so they may improve quality of life. One of the Foundation’s main pursuits is promoting symposia, workshops and clinical bedside teaching. The Heart Clinic Foundation also awards fellowship grants to high-performing professionals in cardiac surgery and cardiology who focus on minimally invasive surgery and interventional cardiology.
Fighting cardiovascular disease worldwide. Cardiovascular disease is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. The Heart Clinic Foundation is committed to making modern cardiac therapies available to underprivileged patients across the globe. We support cardiac health professionals in developing countries by offering state-of-the-art treatment in an efficient and sustainable manner. By working together with local healthcare professionals and authorities, we hope to reduce the global burden of cardiovascular disease.
History
A mission to improve cardiovascular care. Since Andreas Vesalius’ first anatomical essays and William Harvey’s 16th-and 17th-century description of the circulatory system, the heart has held an almost mystical fascination: it’s the perpetual engine that sustains life. Unfortunately, this intriguing organ is also vulnerable to aging and decay. Despite improving therapies and preventative efforts, cardiovascular disease remains the main cause of death in most parts of the world. As life expectancy rises in developing countries, the importance of addressing cardiovascular disease increases in kind.
The Heart Clinic Foundation was founded in 2021 by a group of Swiss cardiovascular specialists who have devoted their professional lives to the battle against heart disease. With a relationship built on professional friendship and mutual trust, the founding members have come together to raise awareness of cardiovascular disease. This goes beyond the boundaries set by their usual clinical practice and puts their lifelong clinical and academic experience towards benefiting others as well as their patients. They have a strong desire to build on the values of education, innovation and partnership for advancing cardiovascular medicine. The Heart Clinic Foundation wants to contribute to the fight against heart disease and the improvement of people’s lives with all these values in mind.
